Increasingly, individuals are coming to RTR, Inc. with the goal of obtaining a regular job in the community. Here at RTR we have fully embraced this enterprise and have actually expanded the size of our Individual Employment Team at a time when many agencies have had to reduce resources in this area!
The Employment Team is a group of highly skilled professionals whose sole purpose is to provide the supports needed to help individuals get and keep jobs in the community. When someone is referred for individual employment services they are assigned to a specific Employment Specialist who will see that person through the entire employment cycle: identification of interests and needs, resume development, interview skills, the actual job search and subsequent on the job supports and training. This thoroughly individualized approach allows us to really get to know the people we are serving and reflects a "best practice" in the field. In short, it gets results!
We are proud of the fact that from 7/1/08 to 6/30/09 our Employment Team placed over 40 individuals in new jobs at a time when our recession wracked economy pushed unemployment levels to 10% or greater in many of the areas we serve!
Since most of our program participants receive SSI or SSDI financial supports from the government, all of our Employment Specialists are well versed on those benefits. They explain in detail, any effects individual employment will have on those benefits to program participants and their families so that they can make the decisions that work best for their situations.
We are always on the look-out for new, individual job opportunities for our individuals.
